Practical info
-
Dates: Arrival May 19 – Departure May 23, 2026
Location: Fredrikstad Folk High School, Haugetunveien 3, 1667 Rolvsø, Norway
The school is situated outside of Fredrikstad, a city located about 90–100 km southeast of Oslo, the capital of Norway.
-
Please book your travel to Oslo Airport (Gardermoen – OSL). Other airports (such as Sandefjord Airport, Torp) are not recommended, as they are located far from Fredrikstad Folk High School where the conference is held and it may complicate onward travel.
-
We will arrange shared buses between Oslo (pickup location: Oslo Plaza / Sonja Henies Plass) and Fredrikstad Folk High School on May 19.
Please note that it takes approximately 30 minutes to travel by train from Oslo Airport (Gardermoen) to Oslo Central Station. To ensure you can catch the scheduled buses, we recommend allowing at least 1.5 hours between your arrival time and the bus departure.
On arrival day, Tuesday, May 19, there will be a bus departing from Oslo Plaza at 4:30 PM, traveling directly to Fredrikstad Folk High School. A second bus will depart from the same location at 7:30 PM.
If you arrive late on Tuesday, May 19, you may need to arrange your own transport to Fredrikstad Folk High School or stay overnight in Oslo depending on timing.
We recommend staying in Oslo if you arrive early or late. A suggested hostel is Bunks Oslo. Some limited community hosting may be available within the network, but this cannot be guaranteed.
-
We will also arrange shared buses on departure day, Saturday, May 23, from Fredrikstad Folk High School to Oslo (Oslo Plaza / Sonja Henies Plass).
On departure day, there will be a bus departing at 9:00 AM, traveling directly to Oslo. A second bus will depart from the same location at 12:00 PM.
Please note that travel time from Oslo Central Station to Oslo Airport (Gardermoen) is approximately 30 minutes by train.
If you are leaving early on May 23, you may need to arrange your own transport from Fredrikstad or stay overnight in Oslo depending on your flight time.
-
All participants will be staying at Fredrikstad Folk High School during the conference, in double or triple rooms.
Bed linens and towels will be provided for all participants.
-
Meals: There will be three meals each day. All meals will be served at the school, except on the final day (May 22), when we will be at St. Croix-huset in Fredrikstad where dinner will be provided. Only breakfast will be provided at the school that day.
We have received information about participants’ allergies and dietary needs in the registration form and these will be taken into account in all meals.
If you would like to purchase additional food or snacks, there are two grocery stores within a 20-minute walking distance from the school (Rema 1000 Rolvsøyveien and Kiwi Greåker).
-

-
We use a sliding scale model for conference fees to support accessibility and solidarity across our global network.
We recognize that travel to Norway may be costly for some, and that access to funding, currency differences, and institutional support vary widely between participants. You will be able to select a registration fee level that reflects your situation.
The fee includes participation in all conference sessions, on-site shared accommodation, local transportation during the program, and all meals during the conference. Travel to and from the conference is not included.
Key principles:
There is no minimum fee for participants from Africa, Latin America, or others who are not able to pay.
High travel costs may be taken into consideration when selecting your fee level.
We encourage organizations to consider limiting fully supported (0 EUR) registrations to one participant per organization, to help widen access across the network.
If you or your organization are able to contribute at a higher level, your support helps make participation possible for others.
The estimated real cost per participant is approximately $400 USD (excluding volunteer labor), and payment plans are available.
If you have any questions about fees, please contact: conference@girlsrockcampalliance.org
